About Ride the Planets
Ride the Planets is above all about living a passion for extreme and alternative sports and sharing this through images.
Since its creation in 2001, the company has evolved in various directions from simply a group of riders traveling the world in search of untamed spots to a complete team of professionals in event planning, press relations, team management and internet sales; however, our commitment to our principle mission has remained constant: to create innovative images for the world of sports.
This dream began with the two Soul Flyers productions where the Ride the Planets team travelled around the globe filming with the best base jumpers, wingsuit flyers and paragliders in the world. From the highest summits in the world (Mont Blanc, Mount Fuji, Cervinia) to breathtaking spots in South Africa, Reunion Island, Australia, Chile and Norway, these films set the tone for the adventurous future of Ride the Planets.
For the next few years, we also developed the ‘Adrenalin Hunters’ series in collaboration with Salomon. This expanded our sports realm from aerial sports to all outdoor sports including skiing, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and surfing. With a total of 9 DVD’s distributed worldwide, this series opened the door to what Ride the Planets is today.
Ride the Planets has also been present in film festivals around the world winning numerous awards since 2001; yet the award that changed the course of Ride the Planets was winning the Jon Olsson Super Sessions in 2008. This award put us on the same playing field as all the major American ski film production companies. In this same year, we filmed our first feature length ski film launched on the market, “Up In Snow”, which is distributed worldwide and was awarded ‘Best Visual Effect’ at the International Freeski Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. In 2009, we have also introduced our second feature length ski film “Can’t Stop” starring Sammy Carlson, which has already been awarded ‘Best Single Shot’ at the 2009 IF3.
